“Here’s a very classic Mosel Spatlese with exactly the combination of richness, elegance and delicacy that makes this category unique. Such delicate white peach and sliced pear, rose and honeysuckle aromas. Very long finish that is as succulent as it is refined. You just want to linger there for as long as you can. Drink or hold.” 96 points, Stuart Pigott, jamessuckling.com
“The 2022 Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spätlese #22 was selected in “two to three parcels of old vines,” Katharina Prüm explained. The nose still has a touch of yeast, and underneath, it shimmers almost with the crunch of a green but red-cheeked apple. The palate is utterly fine. This seems weightless and light, with the most serene balance of sweetness and freshness, coming across as effortless, unforced, with a subtle savoriness in the distance, waiting to make itself more felt in the future. For now, there is a gentle yet precise notion of white peach, tenderly sweet and utterly balanced. Supreme. Available at auction: 360 bottles, 12 magnums. (Medium)” 94-96 points, Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous

“The 2021er Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese is really restrained and almost non-saying at this early stage, but already hints at the complexity to come as it reveals after a few minutes very delicate notes of whipped almond cream, lily flowers, vineyard peach, minty herbs, smoke, candied grapefruit, and quite some fine spices. The wine proves […]
Add to cart Producer: JJ PrumAlea holds some additional sweetness as its canon. There’s an appealing and ultra-high drinkability here. Charm in spades. Floral scents of frangipani and lemon blossom with candied ginger, lime juice, just-ripe pineapple and tonic water. Similar to taste with a slipperiness to texture that feels well metered by the building crispness of the finish. More […]
Add to cart Producer: GrossetThe 2022er Krettnacher Euchariusberg Riesling Spätlese Klaus (the reference to this internal cask name is provided in small print on the label after the AP number) comes from fruit harvested on 60-year-old vines in the prime Gross Schock sector of the vineyard and was fermented down to sweet levels of residual sugar. Still very reductive […]
Add to cart Producer: Hofgut FalkensteinThis is a wine that is always an impressive performer and represents top value for the asking price. Pretty scents of white flowers diffuse. Old school lemonade surges with a green apple drive. So fresh, there is a hint of cucumber in the midst too. Soft, talc feels roll out to a long and refreshing […]
