Prüm’s 2015 Graacher Himmelreich Spätlese is clear, intense and flinty on the nose, very precise but well concentrated; however, it is the most reductive of the Spätlese quartet. Round and piquant, with a stimulating fruit and salinity, this is a very well-defined, crystalline and straight Spätlese of great finesse and elegance. It needs five years or so to unfold all its talents, but it can surely age for 20 or 30 years. 93 points, Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate
This was the first – among very few – wines in the 2015 Prüm lineup to lead with a bit of yeasty fermentative “Mosel stink,” but that veil soon parted more than sufficiently to showcase an alliance of ripe honeydew melon with cassis, grapefruit, and hints of cress and lemon peel that subsequently lend incisive, piquant invigoration on a delicate, polished, infectiously juicy palate. Penetrating and sharply focused, but without its efficacious and enlivening acids turning at all aggressive, the tinglingly, refreshingly citric yet soothing and cooling finish serves up a shimmering array of stony, smoky, alkaline and crystalline nuances. 94 points, David Schildknecht, vinous.com
There is something Sarr like here, the flavours complex, explosive and tangy, yet with a texture of silk. For those who love German Rieslings, this sits at about a Spatlese feinherb. Rich, succulent and full bodied with flavours of honeycomb, blackcurrant, cherry, rose, fresh lime, candied lime, peach, passionfruit, oats and grapefruit. Deep, and despite […]
Add to cart Producer: Reed WinesI love the ‘R’ designations on the Pressing Matters rieslings. From R0 for bone-dry to R139 for sweet, they are an indication of the RS in the wine. The R9, in theory, should teeter on that fulcrum between dry and off-dry, but that crystalline Tasmanian acidity tempers any sweetness and it appears dry. And totally […]
Add to cartThe Spreitzer Oestrich Lenchen Riesling Spätlese ‘303’ was first produced in the year 2000 and honours the Spreitzer brothers Grandfather who harvested his legendary Trockenbeerenauslese from the same vineyard in 1920 – which garnered a record sugar level of 303 degrees Oechsle. Coming exclusively from the Eisenberg this is rich with red apples and sweet acacia […]
Add to cartThe RS21 Riesling from Castle Rock is a medium dry Riesling which has wonderful balance between natural acidity and the residual sugar left in the wine. Feijoa and lime evident on the palate, backed by some floral notes. The sugar gives a lovely richness to the mid palate. The Riesling acid structure is in excellent […]
