Tastes of luxury, according to Louise, and I have to agree. Feels luxurious too, with a long, slender frame woven by silken threads. Rich and almost full bodied, poised. Ripe fruit, yellow peach, guava, pawpaw, kiwifruit and cherry. Very fine feel and subtle texture, flecked with spice. Imperious and magnificent. Waters Wine Co
Exotic, rich, pungent nose with truly exciting fruit. Crunchy sensation and really deep flavours. Passion fruit flavours and creamy texture. Electric impact and no shortage of ripe fruit but a long, bone-dry finish. Great stuff. 17/20 – Jancis Robinson, jancisrobinson.com
Cuvée Théo Riesling comes exclusively from the monopole Le Clos des Capucins (which takes its name from the Capuchin friars who arrived here in 1619), at the base of the celebrated Schlossberg hill. The Clos is well protected from winds by the surrounding hills and by the walls enclosing it. The soils consist of sand, alluvial pebbles and granitic gravel. Here the low-cropping vines typically offer up a supple and pithy Riesling that’s beautifully accessible young—a reflection of these sandy soils. As per all Weinbach Rieslings, this was whole-cluster pressed, fermented without any yeast additions and matured in very old oak casks for 10 months. Importer’s notes
“The raspberry, orange-blossom, jasmine and white-tea character suggests a wine that’s less sweet and structured than this is. Still very youthful, with serious tension between the slightly grainy tannins and crisp acidity and the lush elements of the wine. Long, very bright finish.” 93 points, jamessuckling.com “The Riesling trocken 2021 Kiedrich offers a fine yet […]

Intense and full of character with notes of white flowers, stone fruits, citrus, spice, cherry and blackcurrant. Intense and full of presence, but with a lightness of touch. The spice is more elevated on the palate (clove) and although off-dry, feels drier for all that. Scintillating and mineral as you so often find with Falkenstein, […]

Still extremely youthful, this 2021 Riesling GG is going to take a while to come out of its shell. However, the combination of concentrated citrusy fruit and fresh herb finesse is already very apparent. Bone dry, but beautifully balanced and polished at the very long finish. Drinkable now, but best from 2024. 96 points – […]

Talk about a giant killer. Rheinhessen’s Morstein makes one of the broadest, densest Rieslings on the planet, and Seehof’s rendition is one of the best. More elegant in style, but wanting for nothing. Citrus, zest, minerals, dried herbs, faint notes of smoke, grapefruit and melon. Bright. Juicy, concentrated and full of tension with ripe, pulpy […]
