Swinney Riesling 2024

Classic Swinney character, dialed up by the exceptional circumstances of the vintage. Yellow flower, mustard seed, tangy grapefruit, yellow peach, honey, cherry, bergamot and dried apricot. Rich, concentrated and full of dry extract, penetrating acidity and salty minerals. Round in shape, with terrific intensity and dense as far as Australian Riesling goes. Deep lemon in colour, the nose suggests a wine of balance and intensity. There are notes of grapefruit, indeed a range of citrus, riverstones, figs, stonefruits and a minerally backing. Fine oystershell acidity runs the length. The wine has a clean and crisp texture with focus and drive and very good length. The finish offers a touch of that wonderful regional characteristic, honeysuckle. Enjoy this over the next six to eight years. A superb Riesling. 94 points – Ken Gargett, www.winepilot.com
