Sourced from 25 year old vines in the Grand Cru of Goldtropfchen and aged in Fuder, this is quite simply the best dry riesling at this price in the Mosel. Goldtropfchen is a large and diverse Grosse Lage. It’s gradient, exposure, soils, proximity to the river and elevation is variable, and so is capable of making the greatest variety of wine styles of all the top sites in the Mosel. Quality isn’t so much as variable, for it is a very great vineyard, but some sections will make less compelling dry wines for example, than others. That being said, the wines tend to have a breadth and richness uncommon in the Mosel, and a dark and very complex fruit profile. This is very open in style, as all of Julien’s wines are, with pithy citrus, cream, passionfruit butter, gardenia, quince, earth, smoke and some peach skin grip. Wave upon wave of flavour, fleshy fruit, tension and salt. Ravishing, utterly naked and beautiful, without artifice, just volumes of mouthwatering lusciousness. The greatest riesling maker of them all? Waters Wine Co
“There is general consensus in the informed wine world that the former star pupil of Klaus Peter Keller is one of the greatest talents of the German wine industry in the last 20 years.” – Jancis Robinson MW
97 Points – “Smelling this is like looking into a deep abyss, and someone unfamiliar with intensely mineral dry riesling might feel a bit of vertigo. However, these grapefruit, white-tea and wild-herb aromas really excite us. On the sleek palate this is super-focused with a terrific tannin structure that beautifully matches the crystalline quality on […]

Intense and full of character with notes of white flowers, stone fruits, citrus, spice, cherry and blackcurrant. Intense and full of presence, but with a lightness of touch. The spice is more elevated on the palate (clove) and although off-dry, feels drier for all that. Scintillating and mineral as you so often find with Falkenstein, […]

Bracing minerals, sliced pears and apples, wet stones and a gently floral edge here. So pure and fresh. The palate has a succulent, powerfully aligned drive of fresh apple and pear flavours with a mouthwateringly fresh stream of acidity. More citrusy at the finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold. 95 Points – JamesSuckling.com […]
Read more Producer: RipponThe 2023 Meadowbank was, and is, one of the best Rieslings ever to come out of Tasmania, so it was a pretty tough act to follow. Yet the 2024 is wonderful; prettier, more floral, with a greater degree of elegance to the force and stature of the 2023. Spring jasmine, citrus blossom, lemon and lime […]
