Distinct from the first two wines with white chocolate, red apple, pomegranate, custard, pear, apricot and white peach. Focused, pure and silky palate, the most caressing and subtle of the three without losing that slight textural squeeze. Exquisite detail, and immensely complex. Very fine. Waters Wine Co
A new cuvee to Australia drawn from two of the great Keidrich sites: Klosterberg (one-third) and Sandgrub (two-thirds). Klosterberg is one of the Rheingau’s highest vineyards, where deep, weathered quartsite soils produce some of the town’s most exciting Riesling. Fricke works mainly with old vines here. Sandgrub is a vineyard known for wined of great fruit intensity and juicy character. The wine was naturally fermented and raised for eight months on lees, in stainless steel.
“Gently does it! Plenty of Asian pear, mirabelle and quince here, but also subtle earthy notes that add some mystery to this soft and caressing dry riesling. Then the generous but subtle finish makes your heart melt. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. Screw cap.” 93 points, Stuart Pigott, James Suckling.com
“Bottled five days before I tasted it at the end of May this year, the 2019 Kiedrich Riesling Trocken opens with an excitingly stony, flinty, lemony and characterful bouquet with orange aromas and fine brioche notes. Silky, lean and elegant on the palate, this is a pure and refined Riesling with remarkable finesse, energy and piquancy on the finish. It is very clear and light-footed yet complex and with a grippy finish. This is a classic with a touch of Mosel finesse and lightness. Very stimulating.” 92 points, Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate
