95 Points – “The 2020 Marienburg GG is pure and fresh on the coolish and stony nose that represents its terroir perfectly well even if still showing a sur lie layer. Very elegant and refined on the palate, this is a lush, well-balanced and now creamy-textured Marienburg with gentle acidity and a long, saline and finely tannic finish. I’d cellar this wine for at least another 3 or 4 years to gain back the purity from last year. 12% stated alcohol.” Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate
94 Points – “The complex fresh-herb character is underlined by white-fruit and lemon-curd notes. Discreet succulence and plenty of lemony freshness on the medium-bodied palate give this dry Mosel riesling a level of balance that should delight fans of these wines. Serious structure at the slightly austere, savory finish. From the Marienburg-Treppchen section of this site. Drink or hold.” JamesSuckling.com
92 Points/Outstanding – “The 2020er Marienburg GG, as it is referred to on the main part of the label, was fermented spontaneously in traditional oak casks. It offers a beautiful and rather subtle nose made of herbs, wet stone, spices, a hint of citrusy fruits, apricot blossom, floral elements, and smoke. The wine is superbly playful on the light-footed and subtly creamy palate and leaves a nicely intense feel of herbs and spices in the long finish. The aftertaste is alluring but beautifully complex. This dry wine is made for lovers of subtler and delicately ripe but no less intense and persistent expression of the genre. 2025-2035.” Mosel Fine Wines No 59
