Adelina’s Polish Hill River Riesling is pure and then some! The 2019 is easily as good as the 2018, which is as good as the 2017! You get the drift. Whenever you’re looking for an affordable bottle to match with anything this is it. Precise, composed and tense; the citrus fruit hovers over a bed of minerals. There’s subtle spice and the refreshing acidity is remarkably integrated. Intoxicating.
As with the Watervale Riesling, the Polish Hill River fruit is handpicked, whole bunch pressed, fermented and raised in stainless tanks. The difference here is that the balance of fruit and acidity is such that Col ferments the Polish Hill River bone-dry, whereas the Watervale is bottled with a little residual sweetness. It’s the more linear expression of the two Rieslings but it’s no less impressive.
