Thierry Germain Cep by Cep Anjou Blanc 2020

$32.00

Chenin is so versatile, combining the weight of chardonnay and the racy flavours of riesling. Luscious and tense, the 2020 Cep by Cep is both playful and serious. Stone fruits, preserved lemon, grapefruit, grilled nuts and lime with mouth watering acidity. Try with anything from roast chicken to Pad Thai. Waters Wine Co.

This delicious Chenin comes from 100% hand-harvested fruit, organically grown in Rochefort-sur-Loire, just south of the river opposite Savennières. Phillipe Germain (brother of Roche Neuves’ Thierry Germain), is in charge of the vineyards, which are influenced by the schist-rich, volcanic soils of the Massif Armoricain. It’s the type of rock that imparts a pungent, stony bite to the dry Chenin of the area. The wine was vinified in two- to four-year-old 400-litre casks.

Picking up where last year’s wine left off, the new vintage is super racy, tangy and bright, with plenty of apple, lemon pith and honey fruit, a mouth-watering spine of shimmering acidity and a driven, salty close. Importer’s notes.
