Juxtaposed Wait Vineyard Grenache 2021

$50.00

Sumptuous grenache, with incredibly intense aromatics, perfectly pitched palate weight, balance and tension. There is a tangy sweetness to the hedge fruit compote; blackberry, blueberry, mulberry, plum and raspberry. Certainly darker and sweeter fruit than the Smart vineyard grenache and this is offset by savoury elements. Chocolate orange, fennel, baking spices and Jacaranda flower drop. Tighter, more of a fist of bitter tannin, yet the overall impression is one of cool, controlled luxury. Just an absolutely beautiful wine and one of my favourite wines of the year. We served this with lamb souvlaki and it worked a treat. Waters Wine Co

Seppeltsfield grenache has a solid track record of being very good indeed. I present exhibit A, your honour. It’s a pretty thing to smell; in fact, it’s pretty hard to drag the old schnozz out of the glass. Aromas of gingerbread and an array of blossom notes flutter above the pure dark plum, cranberry and mulberry fruits. Hints of raspberry coulis, matcha, cola, turned earth and berry flan. Perfectly weighted. Plush and ripe before magically morphing into a savoury-shaped beauty with tight, powdery tannins and ever-present spiced plum and raspberry on the exit. Tremendous stuff. 96 points – Dave Brookes (Halliday Wine Companion)
