“Overall white wine of the year’ – Tim Atkin Annual Report
“This is a triumph over the elements by a world-class winemaker, with the density and understated power of a Corton-Charlemagne. Complex, layered and deep, it has leesy intensity, garrigue, citrus, yellow apple and rooibos flavours and a long, tapering finish”. – 99 points Tim Atkin
Huilkrans is made from old dry farmed Chenin parcels planted between 1974 and 1989 on a gentle southern slope at 450 m above sea level. There is something very special about this place in the mountains – isolation, old vines, low rainfall, deep red sand over red clay. These big bushvines are wide planted (low density vineyards) with yields usually in the region of 1.5 ton/Ha. In 2022, we had a great yield, over 3 tons per Ha. We’re very happy to be able to bottle Huilkrans again after a two-year hiatus. Huilkrans is a single origin Chenin Blanc wine. It has gained a very strong following amongst Chenin lovers and is considered by critics to be approximately equal to Magnetic North in quality.

From vines with an average age of 37 years. Fermented in a variety of vessels, from stainless steel to foudres and aged on lees in old, large format French oak. What an absolute ridiculous bargain this wine is. Cool and breezy with green apple, lemon, lime zest, pear and honeysuckle. Clean and precise, loads of […]

Subtle aromatics of peach, nectarine and blackcurrant plus a little vanilla and spice. The palate shows excellent fruit concentration with a creamy texture and well-integrated acidity. Polished, rich and round. Christian Eedes, Winemag.co.za, 94/100
Add to cart Producer: SavageEmphasising purity and terroir rather than flor-aging notes, this is Savagnin ouillé sourced from the fossil-rich marl soils of L’Étoile, in Jura’s southwest. The grapes were pressed and put directly into large oak barrels. The resulting wine is superb. So fine, racy and delicious with lovely texture and a gorgeous, tangy close. Drive, length and finesse; this […]
Add to cart Producer: Theo DancerDespite the floral nature of these two Alsatian varieties, they complement and contrast each other brilliantly. The white blossom aromas of the Muscat provide a base line and the rose and lychee of the Gewürz sit on top to create exotic layers of fruit, spice and flowers. But this is not a sweet wine, and […]
