“The 2022 Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes is especially good this year, offering up aromas of citrus oil, lemon curd, pear, white flowers and bread dough framed by a deft touch of youthful reduction. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and suave, with a deep, multidimensional core of fruit, racy acids and chalky structuring extract, it concludes with a penetrating finish.” 93-95 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
“The 2022 Meursault Charmes 1er Cru has a primal yet well-defined bouquet, full of energy. It will develop the richness of Les Charmes during the barrel maturation. The palate has an effervescent quality, a lovely reduction veiling this Meursault at the moment with walnut and hazelnut towards the long finish. It will require some years in bottle but will be worth the wait.” 92-95 points, Neal Martin, Vinous
Without doubt, this is one of the great examples from this vineyard. Germain’s youngest vines here are 35 years old, and he has six parcels across the lower and upper (dessous and dessus) parts. Having said that, most of Germain’s surface is at the top of the vineyard, abutting the Puligny Premiers Crus. This may be why certain experienced tasters claim that Germain’s Charmes is often his most ‘Puligny-like’ wine. It may be sacrilege to say so, but this is a Meursault Charmes—powerful, yet with great finesse and long, long rocky close—that tops many a Perrières.

“Complete harmony, a certain amount of nuance, lifted finish thanks to acceptable acidity. Bottled July. Pale lemon colour, a little more flesh on the nose, pleasingly rounded, very stylish. Buy this without question. With time in the glass the Chablis minerality shows as well as the pleasing flesh.” 89 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy […]
Add to cart Producer: Bernard DefaixThe lieux-dit of Les Chevalieres is situated above the village of Meursault. Above is the lieux-dit of Les Luchets, which produces a higher toned, more tensile wine. I can’t help but think that this is ideally situated, in a sense, mid-slope, the perfect aspect in Burgundy. Impossibly complex, with notes of white flowers, lemon, lime, […]

Sourced from John and Josie D’Aloisio’s vineyard located high up on the hill above the township of Seville. The I10V1 clone Chardonnay was planted in 1991 on its own roots (non-grafted) and is grown on the stunningly rich red volcanic soils this subregion of the Yarra Valley is famous for. Bottled in early July this […]
Read more Producer: Dappled WinesScrewcap. Unusually for a Petit Chablis, which generally comes from the lower-lying sites on Portlandian limestone, the lion’s share of this cuvée is drawn from a parcel of Kimmeridgian-based soil. Yet it’s not necessarily the type of limestone but more the location that makes the difference. The small Defaix parcel is well situated on the […]
