Frederick Stevenson Chardonnay 2024

$35.00

Classic Adelaide Hills Chardonnay, reminding me somewhat of the Fielke wine. Rich and tangy, with a mineral, salty, saline, white chocolate, nougat thing going on. Dark and yellow fruits, interspersed with grapefruit, mandarin blossom, lime preserve, butter and cream. Full flavoured and pretty full bodied too, but not quite and masses of character. One my favorite chardonnays from anywhere and a total bargain. Norris at Waters Wine Company

From Marten Doebbie’s vineyard just outside of the Lobethal township, Adelaide Hills. 440m elevation, gentle eastern aspect, situated in a valley where rainfall is higher and colder air stays for longer than surrounding areas. This leads to great acid retention, which enables texture to be built into the wine. Made for enjoyment from the get go. Slow whole bunch pressing, slow & cool natural fermentation in 2/3 barrel & 1/3 stainless steel.10 months of oak aging post on fine lees, 15% new oak. Producer’s Notes
