This Petit Chablis comes from a few parcels near his winery located on the plateau that sits just above the Grand Cru slope and the great vineyard, Montée de Tonnerre. This wine is exceptional every year and quite frankly I have yet to taste a better Petit Chablis especially at the price – the 2019 vintage in Chablis has produced wines with a tighter frame than the sun kissed 2018’s – this has great zest and drive! Sebastien Christophe’s domaine and its vineyards are in the commune of Fyé, across the river from the town of Chablis. The hills are steep and overlook Les Clos, Blanchots and Montee de Tonnerre. Every aspect of the viticulture and vinification is thought out and effected with precision. There is nuance and fine detail in his wines that pleases the toughest connoisseurs and they are nicely concentrated thanks to Sebastien’s understanding of the importance of low yields.
