“Bright, light yellow colour; slightly green/herbal aromas of celery stalk, a suggestion of parsnip/earthy root vegetable. The wine is tight and tense, firm and has excellent concentration and vitality, oak taking a back seat. The finish is very dry, mineral and lip-smacking. This is lovely now and will cellar well for many years. 05 Nov 2025 Drink 2026–2036” 95 Points – Huon Hooke, The Real Review
The GC Chardonnay (GC – Gary Charles) is attributed to all the knowledge we have been able to extract from Gary to create a close planted / high density planting of chardonnay on an exposed côte. These hillsides facing North, North East and East will be the backbone of the Farr dynasty for decades to come.
They consist of the most suitable clones, rootstocks, trellising and management you will find for our landscape. This is our tribute to what ‘Gazza’ has achieved and provoked over 40 years not only in our region but for chardonnay and pinot noir of Australia.
The North côte is a red to brown loam with buckshot stones across the surface. The most exposed of the three côtes, the North côte is harvested last of all because of the large amount of clay, holding valuable moisture for a much longer time than the other slopes.
The East côte is divided through the centre of the slope by a rise. Black volcanic soil with fragmented limestone in one direction and grey loam with buckshot stones in the other direction. Soil is King as the East côte has the least amount of clay and therefore least water-holding capacity resulting in it being harvested first even though it is the coolest côte of the three.’

From 0.51 ha of vines in 2 separate plots planted 1993 and 1965, one in the steepest stoniest part close to Blagny which contributes excellent acidity and structure, the other part is from lower down where the soil is richer and this part gives greater richness and depth to the wine. This shows wonderful intensity […]

A bit of a sleeper at first, with airy notes of flint, nutmeg and fennel coming to the fore. With a little more nudging, spiced stone-fruits and earthy wafts of fresh moss appear. The core exudes a quiet confidence, anchored by stone-fruits layered with flint, white button mushroom and sweet spices. It’s been handled with […]

‘The Bourgogne vineyards are in Meursault Puligny, Chassagne and St-Aubin. Glowing pale lemon. Crisply attractive, not very reductive, no great weight on the palate, tingling acidity, a little citrus rinse, fair length. Drink from 2026-2028.’ (86-87) Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy, October 2025. From vines located in Meursault (40%), Puligny (15%), Chassagne (15%) and […]
