As always, Bannockburn’s Chardonnay is drawn mostly from the Estate’s Olive Tree Hill Vineyard (planted in 1976) and Winery Block (1981), which are on volcanic soils over limestone. Average vine age around 35 years. More recently, the Estate Chardonnay now includes fruit from the Kelly Lane Vineyard (Clone 76).
Whole-bunch pressed and settled overnight. Wild-fermented in 500-litre French oak puncheons (20% new), with 60% undergoing malolactic. Ten months on lees with minimal stirring and no sulphur added until bottling. The wine opens bright and floral with lovely citrussy freshness cutting through the stone fruit generosity of the palate. Tapers to a beautiful savoury close backed by that classic Bannockburn salinity.

Screwcap. Unusually for a Petit Chablis, which generally comes from the lower-lying sites on Portlandian limestone, the lion’s share of this cuvée is drawn from a parcel of Kimmeridgian-based soil. Yet it’s not necessarily the type of limestone but more the location that makes the difference. The small Defaix parcel is well situated on the […]
Add to cart Producer: Bernard DefaixThe lieux-dit of Les Chevalieres is situated above the village of Meursault. Above is the lieux-dit of Les Luchets, which produces a higher toned, more tensile wine. I can’t help but think that this is ideally situated, in a sense, mid-slope, the perfect aspect in Burgundy. Impossibly complex, with notes of white flowers, lemon, lime, […]
Add to cart Producer: Fabien CocheA tiny 0.41 ha strip of vines located at the bottom of Grand Cru Les Clos. More apparent wood is present on the otherwise similar nose. There is however more richness and volume to the slightly bigger-bodied and more concentrated flavors that also brim with sappy dry extract while exhibiting outstanding length on the powerful […]
Add to cart Producer: Christian MoreauDiam. Moreau’s village Chablis is drawn chiefly from 20- to 30-year-old vineyards in Préhy and Courgis, both south of Chablis. Then, there are parcels in Chablis and Chichée (under the Premier Cru vines of Vaugiraut/Vosgros). All up, the domaine works with 30 parcels scattered across the appellation, representing a variety of soil structures and exposures. […]
