The 2022 The Standish Shiraz is again providing me with the opportunity to assess bottles two days apart, and how different they are. The freshly opened bottle, as we would all experience upon our first opening, is tight and fresh, with cracked fennel seed, black peppercorns, cumin and ras el’hanout, then dried blueberries and licorice, hints of arnica and raspberry. It’s cool and mineral, with a graphite finish. I cannot overstate how much better the wine tastes after two days. All of the edges smooth out, and it is composed and complete … what a wine. Balance and harmony in a single swoop. It’s savory, though. Super. 14.9% alcohol, sealed under natural cork and foil. 98 points – Erin Larkin, The Wine Advocate

Superficially an outsider in the range, coming from classic Heathcote Cambrian soil, known for producing wines of incredible richness and power. But it’s not an outsider, the power harnessed and controlled by the best in the business. Certainly the Heart of Darkness of the range; the richest, most dangerous, darkest and deepest wine. Masses of […]
Add to cartWith fruit sourced from Greenock, Marananga and Moppa, Jack’s Shiraz has a lot to offer for those that seek a classically styled Barossa shiraz at a sharp price point. Abundant plum and dark cherry fruits, baking spices, licorice, dark chocolate and earth. Tight, fine tannin support and a deep, savoury resonance to its tail. 91 […]
Add to cart Producer: Laughing JackAs always, Bondar’s Violet Hour Shiraz is handpicked from the Rayner vineyard. A blend of block vines, both young and old (some up to 70 years old). Wild fermented naturally with a high portion of whole-bunches and matured in older French oak (no new barrels were used this year). The wine spent six months resting […]
Add to cartAlways the most overtly structured of the Yeringberg offerings, the 2018 vintage Shiraz has a tannic presence rarely seen in Australia. Medium bodied, tightly wound, and needing vigorous coaxing, when it does finally appear, the intensity of entry is worth the wait. Gripping the mouth with firm, coating tannins offering red fruits, blueberry, lavender, camphor, […]
