Australia’s answer to Brunello di Montalcino. For what it’s worth, there isn’t a wine coming out of Brunello of any description at this price that’s anywhere near as good. Spending 36 months in large format oak, yet it’s still incredibly bright, the colour fresh and the aromatics, incredible. Tarry, black cherries, red currants, plums, violets, roses and sweet/savoury spice. A wine of amplitude, fanning across the palate and utterly absorbing. Yet in no way would I describe it as full bodied. There is almost a claret like sensibility, a lightness of touch, amongst the grip of rich textures and fruit intensity. Medium bodied the fruit’s becoming more red and tangy, with some bramble nuances. Savoury elements too, a high acid line and very fine grained tannins. Deep, with the sense of so much more to come. A truly remarkable wine. Waters Wine Co
