A very rare wine of utmost intensity and exceptional quality, rewarding careful cellaring.
Duck Muck was first made by a stroke of luck. Some super-ripe Shiraz was picked from Wild Duck Creek’s Original Vineyard and made into wine, which didn’t quite fill a barrel. The barrel was then topped up with Alan’s Cabernet Pressings, being the only wine available to David (Duck) at that time in 1994. The resulting wine was given away to their best customers. What David didn’t appreciate at the time was how the blend of these two vineyards, and that specific style, was going to create a wine that was not only of world class quality, but gain cult status all over the world.
With a few refinements, Duck Muck is possibly the hardest wine for Wild Duck Creek to make. The vineyards are meticulously attended to. Cane pruned, shoot thinned, and fruit thinned to try and achieve the perfect balance in any particular vintage. The fruit is then picked and partly destemmed into small open top fermenters. The Original Vineyard Shiraz has 30% whole bunches left in the ferment. The wine is then gently basket pressed into 100% new Dominique Laurent barriques and matured for up to 27 months. Duck Muck, when bottled, is extraordinarily intense, with layers of texture, a wonderfully complex aroma, and incredible length and depth. Winemaker’s Notes

75/25% cabernets sauvignon/cabernet franc. A medium, bright crimson purple. A lovely, fragrant cool-climate cabernet featuring aromas of sour cherry, blackberry and both dried roses and herbs. This is medium bodied, with good depth of fruit together with firm, chalky tannins that, while balanced, will need some time to ameliorate. 93+ Points – Philip Rich, Halliday […]

There is a change in image in the 2021 Com Tu, a village red from La Figuera in Montsant, with a label that is similar to the one from the new rosé, a drawing of the village. They used a high percentage of full clusters, and it matured in an old 5,000-liter foudre for one […]

An array of red and purple fruits (think redcurrants, dark cherries and plums), heightened by aromas of violets and wild herbs. The supple fruit characters are interwoven with fine, velvety tannins giving the wine great balance and finesse. ‘Cuvée de Chais’ loosely translates as Cellar Blend and is Adrian’s interpretation of a traditional Bordeaux […]

An unusual blend for an entry level South African red, 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Cinsault 11% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc, all from Stellenbosch. And it works brilliantly. Aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, granite, blueberry, strawberry and fresh compost. Rich and succulent, round in shape and tightened by tangy fruits and powdery tannins. […]
