One of my favourite Bondar wines. We had a 2022 a year after release and it was gorgeous, better after a year in bottle. Vibrant from start to finish with pure black, red and blue fruits, dried flowers and mixed herbs. Curvy, full flavoured and downright easy to drink, with lithe tannins and gentle acidity. Bargain. 78/12/10% grenache/mataro/shiraz. This is the first year the mataro has usurped the shiraz in the blend; eight months in neutral oak for about eight months. This is such a joyful wine, year in, year out. Here again, the pleasure resides. Popping with red berries, cherries, cranberry, musk, rose and a dukkah-like toasted nut and spice note, if that’s not too much of a stretch. It’s lithe, textured with silky ribbons of fruit marshalled by finely tooled grip. There’s nothing from this address that isn’t top drawer, regardless of style, and this is such a pure delight. 95 Points, Halliday Wine Companion
