The 2017 Vat 6 Tyrrell’s Pinot Noir is gorgeous. It’s nervy and has that fabulous angular structure unique to Tyrrell’s. There is a complexity of flavour that I have not yet seen from this wine. Raspberry, strawberry and cranberry with hints of porcini mushroom and cured meat. There are also wonderful hints of oak spice amidst the firm, ripe tannins. This is great Pinot Noir and a ripost to those who think its a varietal suited to cooler climes.
The Pinot Noir grapes are sourced from just below the Tyrrell’s 4 and 8 Acre vineyards, planted in the 1970s. The grapes were hand-picked before natural yeast fermentation in open top vats. 30% whole bunches included. Maturation was in French oak barriques for 11 months, of which 10% was new. WWC, June 2019
Medium bodied, lovely tickle of graphite tannin, savoury but fresh strawberry and lightness of touch throughout, good finish, firm but fresh….. It will shine with a little more bottle age to bring out further complexity. It’s a very good Vat 6. 94 Points – Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

Le Dessus de Montchenevoy is located above the famed Savigny 1er Cru Aux Guettes. It’s a west-facing site on white soils that sits at an altitude of 350 metres and is surrounded by trees. The altitude and cool air from the forest help moderate the climate here, resulting in slow ripening and flavour development, while […]
Add to cart Producer: Chantereves“A little lighter in crimson purple and showing a touch of oak now. Quite powerful, not quite so harmonious but note that this has been tasted directly after the sublime Nuits-St-Georges Aux Boudots. Actually, this is a fine and nicely nuanced Vosne-Romanée.” 90-93 points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy “There is a very pretty, perfumed and high-toned […]
Add to cart Producer: Benjamin LerouxDeep colour, dusky red with a trace of purple in the meniscus; the bouquet is initially big on stalky whole-bunch fermented characters, root vegetables, gradually giving way to dark cherries and dark plums. The palate is full and rich, a bigger bone pinot showing generous smoky oak character as well, bright acidity energising the finish […]

A remarkable wine, from an impossible vintage. The fruit is sourced from all of the estate vineyards, only 100 cases produced perhaps the best demonstration of just how punishing a vintage it was. Quite closed initially, but with patience, aromatically soaring. Intense sweet and tangy blue red and black fruits, cut flowers, mace, clove, cinnamon […]
