The colour’s so pale, it’s hard to imagine the power, intensity and sheer presence that such a pretty wine can have. Very complex aromatics of tangy red fruits, cool hedge fruits, Chinese five spice, blood orange, savoury spice and wild herbs. Deep and concentrated, the tannins, skin and bunch are present to swirl, taste and feel. There’s a firmness to them and a slipperiness as well, al dente. We tried this over the course of several hours, and the whole bunches receded somewhat, while the fruit became sweeter, the savoury elements drier and the general flow smooth as silk. A remarkable wine, almost a challenge to the drinker at this stage and it begs time in your cellar. There is so much more to come. What a wine. 100 dozen made. Waters Wine Co
Intense florals, baking spices, strawberry, raspberry, creaming soda, rhubarb, plum, sandalwood, blood orange, granite and smokey reduction. Silky and sappy. Elevated acidity really pushes the wine to the outer limits. Great bow like width and movement. Gamey notes, Serrano, woody mushrooms, sous bois and blackberry. Firm tannins, long and mineral. Stunning pinot noir and so much better than the highly rated 2021. Second tasting, Waters Wine Co
The wine is called Apollo, and when you taste it, it takes you to the stars. This wine is so good, and so distinct, that it’s tempting to say that it redefines what is possible with pinot noir and the Adelaide Hills. It’s complex. It’s structured. It’s Italianate. It’s varietal. And it’s itself. It brings smoked, ripe, berried fruit to the table and then layers woodsy herbs, gunmetal, twigs and peppers throughout. It’s a big statement in measured, precise voice. Wow. Seriously. Wow. 98 Points, Campbell Mattinson, Halliday Wine Companion

Le Dessus de Montchenevoy is located above the famed Savigny 1er Cru Aux Guettes. It’s a west-facing site on white soils that sits at an altitude of 350 metres and is surrounded by trees. The altitude and cool air from the forest help moderate the climate here, resulting in slow ripening and flavour development, while […]

Add to cart Producer: Hughes & HughesThe Lamarche Echézeaux comes from three lieux-dits: Les Cruots ou Vignes Blanches, Clos-Saint-Denis, and Les Champs Traversins. Altogether these parcels make up about 1.3 hectares of vines with an average age of 30 years. Nicole Lamarche works with very low yields here, which, alongside the Domaine’s delicate extraction, results in a superb expression of this terroir. Of this cuvée, Jasper Morris has […]

A terrific follow up to the excellent 2019 with notes of blackcurrant, dark cherry, blackberry, sandalwood, baking spices and plum. Medium bodied, plush, succulent and sappy. The oak frames the wine nicely and is beautifully integrated. It’s delicate and pretty, the fruit sweet and tangy. Tannins are long, drawn out, powdery and soft. Very fine […]
