From a 0.39ha plot, planted in 1952, 1976 on 50 cm deep brown clay and limestone soil. 90% de-stemmed, pneumatic pressing, indigenous yeast fermentation Aged for 18 months in oak barrels (15% new), unfiltered.
The 2018 Volnay Les Mitans 1er Cru has an absolutely glorious bouquet of perfumed black cherries, blueberry, potpourri and light violet aromas that are understated and yet focused and delineated. The palate is medium-bodied with a precise opening, and very harmonious and sensual. Pure, mineral-driven red fruit defines the effortless finish. Stunning. 93-95 points, Neal Martin, Vinous
The 2018 Volnay 1er Cru Mitans is built for the long haul, unwinding in the glass with notes of cassis, dark chocolate, sweet soil tones and potpourri. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, with an ample chassis of rich, powdery tannins and lively balancing acids. 92 – 94 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
From Mitans proper. A wonderfully pure, airy and attractively fresh nose requires plenty of swirling to reveal the spicy red currant cherry, floral and herbal tea scents. There is excellent intensity to the mineral-driven middle weight flavors that possess a supple mid-palate that is almost delicate while displaying fine length on the silky-textured finish. A classic Mitans of lace and grace. 91-93 points, Allen Meadow, Burghound

The latest rendition of a cuvée that goes from strength to strength, Glantenay‘s old vine 2019 Pommard 1er Cru Les Saussilles offers up notions of Griotte cherries, cassis, potpourri and dark chocolate. Medium to full-bodied, racy and concentrated, with superb depth at the core and a saline finish, it’s well worth seeking out. As I’ve written […]
Add to cart Producer: Thierry GlantenayThe 2017 Vat 6 Tyrrell’s Pinot Noir is gorgeous. It’s nervy and has that fabulous angular structure unique to Tyrrell’s. There is a complexity of flavour that I have not yet seen from this wine. Raspberry, strawberry and cranberry with hints of porcini mushroom and cured meat. There are also wonderful hints of oak spice […]
Add to cart Producer: Tyrrell'sLe Dessus de Montchenevoy is located above the famed Savigny 1er Cru Aux Guettes. It’s a west-facing site on white soils that sits at an altitude of 350 metres and is surrounded by trees. The altitude and cool air from the forest help moderate the climate here, resulting in slow ripening and flavour development, while […]

Quite powerful, not quite so harmonious but note that this has been tasted directly after the sublime Nuits-St-Georges Aux Boudots. Actually, this is a fine and nicely nuanced Vosne-Romanée.” 90-93 points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy “There is a very pretty, perfumed and high-toned […]
