Despite the light colour, pouring the wine releases an immense bouquet. I know we’re in for a treat! Expressive and vibrant with plum, cherry, raspberry, blackberry and five spice. Deep, succulent and complex and so much presence and grip. Tannins are very fine, that seem to tighten towards the close. Scaffolding acidity, with the length and balance suggesting a very long life. Refined, serious and fun. Norris at Waters Wine Co.
Deep ruby with characters of dark cherry, dried cranberry, wild strawberry and raspberry pip along with spice, wisps of struck match, wildflowers, tamari, cold tea, game meats and subtle crushed herbs. I like the energy here; there’s a distinct tension to its travel on the palate, with sleek fruit, crushed riverstone tannins and a wicked briny acid line providing detail and cadence. Such great drinking. 95 points – Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion

Les Bousselots is a mid slope vineyard, with clay rich soils. As you would expect the wines are full bodied, dark coloured and with deep soft tannins. Julien’s rendition is one of the blackest from any producer of this vineyard I can remember tasting. Spiced plum, hedge fruits, black cherry and cassis, flecked with sweet […]

It has a pretty bouquet with raspberry and wild strawberry scents very pure. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit and fine tannins with a slightly leafy finish. This is delightful. 86-88 points – Vinous, Neal Martin I head back down to his small cellar to taste through a splendid set of 2021s. […]

Direct from the cool dark cellars of Rippon, and at 10 years old this is drinking beautifully. It’s interesting to taste the estate’s DNA, with no perceptible style changes over the years. As always, an expression of vintage, and 2012 is considered great according to Nick Mill, owner/winemaker at Rippon. Red fruits, cherry, plum, strawberry, […]

Francois is passionate about the quality of the Beaune appellation, particularly some of the more regarded sites such as Clos de Mouches, Les Montrevenots and this 1er Cru, Champs Pimont. The exposition of Francois’ grower is East, but the 1er Cru does rotate round to the South parts. He used punchdowns in 2020 ferments as […]
