From the lieu-dit of Les Clous which has more limestone soil giving a fresher finer aspect to the aromas and the structure. This vineyard is full south facing and situated between the village Auxey and its neighbouring hamlet of Petit Auxey to the west with the vines averaging 30 years old. Just 20% new oak used here and bottled in December this wine is made with just 10% of whole bunches in the ferment. Fine fresh dark red berry aromas. Real finesse here with very fine and more substantial tannins from the limestone finishing with lingering perfume. Bright crunchy and very moreish. A great value.

“A four-vineyard, six-clone blend; 20% wholes bunches, 15% new oak. A bright crimson red. A lifted bouquet redolent of summer red fruits, poached rhubarb, rose bush and white pepper. The energetic palate is light to medium bodied with the wine’s fine-grained tannins and bright acidity making for a delicious and refreshing mouthful. Good, nay, great […]
Add to cartA bright crimson red. After a few good few swirls, aromas of ripe raspberries, black cherries, wild herbs and some crushed violets soon emerge. The palate, though, doesn’t need much coaxing, and this silken, sappy wine has excellent depth and persistence. Will be even better six to 12 months from now. 96 points – Philip […]
Add to cart Producer: Giant StepsThe 2020 Volnay Village wafts from the glass with aromas of cherries, dark berries, sweet spices and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and succulent, with melting tannins and a saline finish, it includes roughly one-third premier cru fruit. Add to cartBeautiful pinot noir from Castle Rock, tasted alongside several older vintages, affirming their great aging potential. A difficult hot year 2023, it’s had to believe that such as pure, supple and translucent wine could be forged from such difficulty. Medium bodied, with the black and hedge fruits mashed with licorice, mace, fennel, pink peppercorns and […]
