Our 2025 Pinot Noir has all the classic blue fruits that come from the Coal River Valley’s unique black clay soil. The fruit characters are dense, with a touch of Campari spice aroma, from the small whole bunch parcel. The region does fruit density exceptionally well, but we’ve tried to tease out a little perfume delicacy.
The fruit was hand-picked in two parcels. The first parcel fermented entirely as whole bunches. The second was de-stemmed, then cold soaked for 5 days before a slow wild fermentation. Both parcels were pressed into small seasoned French oak for malolactic fermentation and left on lees for 9 months.

All the sites lie in volcanic loam […]

Every year, it’s a tussle to decide my preference; Sangreal or Farrside. A warmer, even vintage 2024, without extremes and there seems a certain evenness to the two pinots, they are so well appointed. Another feature of this release is their apparent openness, so much so that I cannot remember these two wines tasting so […]

It has a pretty bouquet with raspberry and wild strawberry scents very pure. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit and fine tannins with a slightly leafy finish. This is delightful. 86-88 points – Vinous, Neal Martin I head back down to his small cellar to taste through a splendid set of 2021s. […]
