CRFT Arranmore Pinot Noir 2021

$45.00

Quite a classic wine – firm and correct, medium bodied, linear, savoury, reminding me of the pinots from Beaune. Lifted florals with some ripe whole bunch influence of clove, licorice and aniseed. Focused, compact and coiled with brambly fruit, cranberry, savoury spice and ripe authoritative tannins. Nothing showy. A discreet wine, with pin point balance and for those who read our notes, I love the squeeze of tannin. Ideal for the table. Waters Wine Co

Hand-made at CRFT Carey Gully winery. 100% NASAA Certified Organic Piccadilly Valley Pinot Noir, hand-picked, cold soaked followed by wild fermentation in an open-top tank with 25% whole bunch. Producer Profile

CRFT Wines (pronounced croft) was founded in 2012 by winemakers Candice Helbig and Frewin Ries. Sourcing fruit from 10 single vineyards across the Adelaide Hills and Barossa Valley, they make wines from established varietals and relative newcomers. Indeed CRFT are pioneers of Mencia and Gruner Veltliner, their’s unsurpassed in Australia.

CRFT displays the diversity of the Adelaide Hills wine region beautifully, the wines made traditionally and as naturally as possible, sulphur, the only addition. Vineyard definition is key here and the best way to taste the wines is together – to note the very real differences, even though in some cases the vineyards are separated by only a few metres.

All the CRFT wines are exceptional and cannot be beaten for their value for money. The reds, Pinot Noir, Mencia and Shiraz are generous in flavour, with sleek lines, mouthwatering acidity and long savoury tannins. They are energetic and buoyant, compact, coiled and marvelously balanced. The whites too are rich in flavour, with terrific mid-palate stuffing and long frames, carried along by minerals, texture and natural acidity.
