“Also a nose of depth and guarded darker fruit. Broad, mouth-filling wine – a fine, grainless tannin as a support for everything else. Modest bitters add extra complexity to these finishing flavours. Another wine to wait for, but perhaps becoming accessible a little before the previous Beaune.” Bill Nanson, Burgundy Report
“The 2021 Pommard Village has an open-knit red cherry and crushed strawberry scented bouquet that has more charm than its Volnay counterpart. The palate is lithe and supple, exerting fine grip, beautifully balanced with a sense of panache on the finish. Classy.” 90 points, Neal Martin, Vinous
The lion’s share of Jobard’s Pommard is drawn from a site known as Les Petits Noizons, where the vines are exposed to the southeast on the hill above the 1er Cru line. Meanwhile, the evocatively named Rue au Porc climat sits below the village abutting the D974. Across the holdings (which are not large) the average age of vines is around 50 years. Tasting in recent vintages with Antoine, it is already clear that he has the same touch with red wine as white wine. His style tends towards brightness, perfume and digestibility. “It’s the kind of Burgundy I want to enjoy and to drink,” he says. The grapes are 100% destemmed and naturally fermented, with roughly 10 days on skins. The wine was then aged for 12 months in barrel (only 20% new). As we know, so many great white Burgundy producers are today making outstanding reds. You can now add the name Antoine Jobard to that list. This year, the Pommard was cropped at 20 hl/ha, and it punches well above its weight.

“A beautiful, nervy pinot here. Such purity and depth on the nose for a pinot that barely has any extraction. Tile, flowers, minerals and racy crushed raspberries and wild strawberries. Tense and pretty on the palate with incredible vibrancy and verve. Naturally structured. Long and really refined. So subtle, yet it lasts almost two minutes. […]
Read more Producer: Bodega ChacraThis is a beguiling and dreamy wine. Translucent, deep ruby/magenta with a harmonious bouquet of dark, jubey fruit, subtle florals, spicy rolling tobacco and wet stone. The nose certainly promises a lot and the palate delivers in spades. Smooth, soft, full and ripe – red and dark cherries mingle with chalky, ultra-fine tannins with enough […]
Add to cart Producer: Home HillA feature of Farrside is its combination of sweet and savoury spice, flowers and flavoured tobacco. An extremely exotic and singular wine, 2022 sees its uniqueness in the extreme. Fenugreek, cumin, violets, lavender, Turkish tobacco, red fruit compote and blackberry. Prickling with acidity, edgier and more angular than recent vintages, the Farrside’s savoury side on […]
Add to cart Producer: By FarrBeautiful pinot noir from Castle Rock, tasted alongside several older vintages, affirming their great aging potential. A difficult hot year 2023, it’s had to believe that such as pure, supple and translucent wine could be forged from such difficulty. Medium bodied, with the black and hedge fruits mashed with licorice, mace, fennel, pink peppercorns and […]
