Pale in the glass and engagingly savoury, feeling a little less up-front fruitful than the ’23 at the same stage, but certainly no less for it. More, perhaps. This is savoury, with pressed flowers, dried cranberry, damson and macerated cherries, warm stone, whole spices – fennel seed, clove, cardamom – and a little blood orange note, speaking to flavour and zesty, sour-fruited tension. The tannins, chalky, pithy, sandy and purposeful is a real feature, as is the fine seam of acid. It’s a wine built with a light, thoughtful touch, confident, layered and very engaging. 96 Points – Marcus Ellis, Halliday Wine Companion
