Very good depth of red-purple colour, bright in the glass, and showing ripe plum to black cherry on the nose, a note of sweet licoricey spices, and mercifully no bubblegum carbonic maceration overtone. Very good intensity of flavour and an appealing backbone of fine tannins which add to structure and length. An excellent gamay, which drinks superbly now and has more ageing potential than most Aussie gamays. 94 points, Huon Hooke – The Real Review
This section of the Estate vineyard was planted in 2006 and grafted to Gamay in 2020. We have used five different clones in this vineyard; planted on south-east facing rows planted south-east facing on granite soils, at 450m elevation. Vineyard practices are organic with minimal irrigation.
Bright ruby in colour. A medium-bodied wine inspired by the best Cru Beaujolais – a Gamay to be taken seriously. Aromas of black cherry, tobacco and forest floor. Earthy wet stone, fennel seed, and cacao. An intense perfume of heirloom rose petals and sandalwood. A complex wine, precise with silky tannins. Crisp natural acidity extending the length of the palate. An expressive wine with a structure suiting medium term ageing. A pure and vibrant expression of Australian Gamay. Our third release and clearly a natural fit for Beechworth’s climate, elevation and soil. Winemaker’s Notes

After 13 years honing his craft at his uncle Rick Kinzbrunner’s iconic Giaconda, Peter Graham set out on his own path, founding Domenica. Perched at 460 metres above sea level on a granite ridge that falls away to the south-west of Beechworth, the site is as striking as the wines it produces.
Domenica’s wines speak vividly of place. There’s a gripping mineral thread that frames the vitality of mature vines, with each variety chosen to articulate the character of the site. The approach in the winery is traditional and intuitive—taste over numbers, always. Indigenous yeasts drive fermentation, while pressings, solids and lees are embraced as essential elements in building texture and complexity. The wines are raised carefully in oak barriques and bottled unfiltered.
Authentic, expressive, and deeply considered – these are the real deal.
