Domaine A’s Stoney Creek range is built for earlier drinking, yet they are very serious wines indeed, with a little more fruit weight than their other releases. A 87/9.5/3/0.5% cabernet sauvignon/Merlot/cabernet franc/ petit verdot blend, somewhat reminiscent of St Estephe. Expressive aromatics of cassis, violets, lavender, bay leaf, blackberry, dark cherry and spicy oak. Gorgeous palate, a lovely tension of fine tannins, savouriness and ripe pure fruit. At less than a third of the price of its big brother, baby Domaine A has long been one of the bargains of Tasmanian reds. This is textbook cabernet of magnificent stature and grand longevity. All the usual suspects are here in full measure: pure blackcurrant, cigar box and the subtle perfume of the lavender row that borders this fabled vineyard. Producer Profile
Bubb + Pooley is a new wine venture created by the husband and wife winemaking team of Justin Bubb and Anna Pooley. Their first and subsequent releases were produced from purchased fruit sourced from carefully selected vineyards in the Coal River Valley and the East Coast of Tasmania.
Sustainability and minimal impact underpin the approach at Bubb + Pooley – the fruit is hand-picked and there is minimal added sulphur to facilitate wild-yeast ferments and natural malolactic conversions. The wines are fermented in hand-crafted concrete vessels specifically designed to enhance the varietal.
All wines are bottle unfined and so are vegan suitable.
