Candied, spiced apple and overripe Persian melon dominate the Prum 2011 Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Auslese gold capsule, with honeyed impingement both aromatically and on the palate reinforcing the sense of relative opacity and rounded richness that the other Graachers in this year’s collection displayed. Here the sense of delicacy is nearly weightless; intriguing and enticing notes of liquid peony and lily enter the picture mid-palate after the wine takes on air; and for all of the botrytization in effect, there is a welcome retention of primary juiciness, spurring a lusciously long finish. Look for four decades or more of luxuriant satisfaction. Drink 2013 – 2053.

Pale golden yellow. Candied apricot, clove, nut oil and a touch of smoky botrytis on the nose. Creamy, tropical fruit flavors are nicely accented by salty minerality. This impressively rich auslese boasts a compelling finish animated by lemon curd and slate.

Still very youthful on the nose, this is crammed with ripe peach, plus more delicate notes of pineapple and mangosteen. It’s a minor miracle that this kind of concentration can be packed into such a sleek, medium-bodied palate. What an amazing mouthfeel this has thanks to the seamless integration of slatey acidity and ripeness. Very […]
Add to cartClassic Tasmanian pinot noir from a great year. Complex red summer fruits. Floral, roses and lavender, with sweet and savoury spice, compost, pine needles and smoke. Plenty of volume and shape, the fruit succulent and juicy – balanced by darker, savoury elements. So much textural flavour complexity, the wine a shape shifter in the glass. […]

The palate is fine, harmonious and svelte on the entry. This is a Perrieres demonstrating typical fine mineral nuance, though […]
Add to cart Producer: Jean-Louis ChavyThe 2020er Ellergrub, as it is referred to on the consumer label (the reference to Grosse Eule is left for the back label), has a restrained yet beautiful nose of minty herbs, thyme, yellow flowers, smoke, lozenge, spices, and blackberry. The wine proves slightly juicy and creamy on the mid-palate, yet there is quite some […]
