Still very youthful on the nose, this is crammed with ripe peach, plus more delicate notes of pineapple and mangosteen. It’s a minor miracle that this kind of concentration can be packed into such a sleek, medium-bodied palate. What an amazing mouthfeel this has thanks to the seamless integration of slatey acidity and ripeness. Very long finish with spot-on balance. Drinkable now, but best from 2025. 97 points, James Suckling
While tightly wound in youth and too nervous to express itself fully, there’s a core of sun-drenched peach and yellow cherry lusciousness that pulsates from within here. It’s still subtle on the nose, but the palate can’t hide the intensity of fruit and swirls of honey and hibiscus nectar waiting to unfurl. Delicate sweetness is balanced by a lifting spray of minerality and a spine of laser-edged acidity. Hold until 2030 at least; it’s a wine to enjoy over decades.96 points, Decanter

The 2020er Ellergrub, as it is referred to on the consumer label (the reference to Grosse Eule is left for the back label), has a restrained yet beautiful nose of minty herbs, thyme, yellow flowers, smoke, lozenge, spices, and blackberry. The wine proves slightly juicy and creamy on the mid-palate, yet there is quite some […]

And yet, I am utterly fixated on the aromas teasing my attention. A wine of pure natural power, decadence and sensual complexity to take your mind from the busyness […]

The 35-50 year old vines grow at an altitude of 280 metres on the typical slate-weathered soils of the region. Spontaneous fermentation, maturation 50% in stainless steel and 50% in the 500 litre Tonneau and 1200 litre Stockinger Fuder. The Rieslings from Römerstich are somewhat more generous and expressive than those […]
