Australia’s most convincing Vintage Port style wine. Utterly consistent and repeated tastings of back vintages have left me in no doubt. Will they go 50, or a hundred, or more? The last vintage from Chris Killeen and one that will live on for at least another couple of decades. Rich, deep and concentrated, showing great vigour, curve and polish. Black fruits, liqueur cherry, florals of lavender and violet, dark chocolate, baking spices, grilled nuts and dried herbs. Freshness and drive, with opulent, polished tannins, coating the fruit in a protective layer of textural pleasure. Grand. Imperious. Waters Wine Co
While this is beautifully fresh, it has morphed into a very fine aged fortified. Woodsy, earthy tones with coffee and vanilla, blackberry essence and brandy-esque flavours to the spirit. Lovely balance, clean with tannins adding a raw-silk texture. A lot of emotion infused into this: a fitting tribute to Chris Killeen’s skill as a fortified winemaker. 95 points – Halliday Wine Companion
