Lifted lime citrus aromas, the palate is seamless – showing the typical powerful fruit core, balanced by the wine’s texture and soft acid profile. The length and power of fruit on the palate is what sets this year’s Vat 1 apart from other recent vintages. A classic in the making, akin to the legendary 2005 and 2009 vintages.
Sourced from predominantly the Short Flat Vineyard, with a small percentage from neighbouring De Beyers. These two iconic vineyards both feature ideal sandy, well-drained soils. Vines planted on their own roots and dry grown, the oldest planted in 1923. The grapes were hand-picked then, after a relatively cool fermentation, the wine spent minimal time on yeast lees before being bottled early to maintain its freshness. No oak fermentation or maturation.

The barrel was then topped up with Alan’s Cabernet Pressings, being […]

Concentrated and deep, such a threading the needle attack, so precise and linear, then pincering the palate with wave after wave of flavour. Intense, dazzling and vital, with a finish that goes on and on. […]

It’s a delightful nerve ball of a wine, crackling with energy and layered with complexity before finishing with intensity and great length. It’s going to be a stunner, but there is […]
