Floral aromas of lemongrass and orange blossom linger into warm stone fruit and ripe citrus notes. More svelte and juicy – and appealingly playful – than the Leistenberg this vintage, with a relaxed and balanced sweetness. Refreshing acidity and beautiful stony spice on the lingering, dry finish. 17+ points. Paula Sidore, Jancis Robinson 2023
The Klamm, a Grosse Lage site, is situated directly adjacent to the Hermannshöhle. Its name is a very old word to describe the landscape, alluding to an incision in the craggy cliffs above. These vineyards are among the steepest found anywhere in the region, with extremely stony soils heavily comprised of volcanic porphyry mixed with black-grey slate.
The 2022er Krettnacher Euchariusberg Riesling Spätlese Klaus (the reference to this internal cask name is provided in small print on the label after the AP number) comes from fruit harvested on 60-year-old vines in the prime Gross Schock sector of the vineyard and was fermented down to sweet levels of residual sugar. Still very reductive […]

Slightly reductive at first, this quickly […]

The wine is superbly playful on the palate, where there are refined flavors of vineyard peach, orange blossom, and almond cream. It proves […]
Add to cartI love the ‘R’ designations on the Pressing Matters rieslings. From R0 for bone-dry to R139 for sweet, they are an indication of the RS in the wine. The R9, in theory, should teeter on that fulcrum between dry and off-dry, but that crystalline Tasmanian acidity tempers any sweetness and it appears dry. And totally […]
