From grapes grown in the Grand Cru of Goldtropchen, though not from one of Julien’s vineyards. Despite this, I believe the ‘Mosel’ riesling to be the emblematic wine of the estate, at least in so far as, if you wanted to drink in the full glory of Julien Haart at an affordable price, this is the one. And it is glorious. I tasted this with another Haart sibling, surrounded by wines retailing over a $1000 a bottle, yet if I could settle down with just one bottle, this would be it. Expressive. Exotic fruits of pawpaw, green mango, guava and flint, mingle with cherry, blackcurrant, lime, apple and peach. Great volume and amplitude, with the breadth and richness of Meursault, yet the precision, detail and drive of the Mosel. Incredible presence, with wafts of mint, savoury spice, flint, earth cream and smoke, but the fruit thickly applied on a curved and sensuous canvas. For lovemakers and daydreamers. Waters Wine Co
The 2023 Mosel Riesling, as it is written on the front label, was made from grapes harvested in the Piesporter Goldtröpfchen and was fermented and matured in Fuder. It offers a beautifully aromatic and attractive nose of minty and earthy herbs, blueberry, yellow peach, green apple, lime tree, and smoke. The wine proves straightforward and linear on the zest-driven, with mineral and refreshing elements going through the nicely long finish. This is a very good bone-dry tasting Riesling. Mosel Fine Wines
This may be an entry-level wine, but it shows terrific tension between juicy white fruit aromas and salty minerality. Barely medium-bodied, but with ample substance and a bold, stony finish. Drink or hold. Screw cap. 93 Points, Stuart Pigott

‘Back to more “normal” vintage conditions with warm days and rapid ripening. Sourced from two vineyards in the Coal River Valley. Hand harvested, whole bunch pressed, fermented with yeast to dryness minimal time on yeast lees. Fermented in stainless steel. A very classic take on riesling from the Valley in a warmer year. High acidity […]

Incredibly pristine, intense and pure. White peach, jasmine, lemon, lemon zest and salty. Delicacy and refined power, with a pinch of herbs, zesty grip and minerals. Waters Wine Co Very ripe lemon character and an elegant harmony of restrained power, ripe acidity and a subtle chalky minerality that build at the long polished finish. […]

Always a lovely wine to taste, opening with pear, melon, citrus blossom, spring jasmine, lime, ripe lemon and subtle buttery/pastry notes. A wine of dimensions, the textural element a caress, but it also enables the wine to hold and enfold your palate. Juicy and unctuous, there is, however, an overwhelming sense of control and precision, […]

This cuvée is a blend of fruit from high altitude sites dotted around the village. This includes the brilliantly named Sandgrub vineyard, but also a good dollop of wine from Wasseros (a steep, southwest-facing vineyard that abuts the Gräfenberg vines). The soils of these sites are typically composed of stony, fragmented phyllite interlaced with loess and loam. Raised entirely in […]
