Always from the first press juice, as always this is terrific. 2024 is a very warm vintage of low yields and deep concentration, but somehow Castle Rock manage a stunning mineral, energetic and pure riesling, regardless of conditions. White flowers, citrus blossom/fruit/zest, with oyster shell, thyme and pink lady apple. Juicy and easy drinking, it’s freshness tensioned by sumptuous fruit. One of Australia’s best value and consistent white wines. Waters Wine Co
A compact yet lightly juicy style with lots of crushed rock minerality and pumice stone texture amongst pink grapefruit, tart lime and crunchy green apple. And yet there’s an approachability to this wine that delivers very high drinkability. Everything meshes beautifully, the wine stretches luxurious and long, the refreshment factor is ballistic. Absolutely spot-on for its reflection of the variety and place. 95 Points, Halliday Wine Companion
If, as many say, riesling is the purest transmitter of terroir that we know, then there’s no better way to tell the compelling story of Western Australia’s remote Porongurup region than through the achingly pure and expressive wines produced by the Diletti family of Castle Rock. Citrussy, alluring floral and a kinetic minerality are at play here. Coiled power and astonishing length. 95 Points, The Australian Magazine Top 100 Wines, Nick Ryan.
A wine that always delivers in flavour and finesse. The Estate Riesling is all estate fruit coming from vines aged around 24-41 years of age. Pressings from the first 450 litres are used. Orchard apples, lily pily and finger lime caviar. Green toffee apple and lemonade stand. A cascade of thirst quenching acidity and some delicate salt crystals add interest to the very slinky palate. Some star jasmine and fennel frond too. A wine that needs to be in your cellar year after year. It’s sure to delight. Serve with plump crystal prawns in oyster sauce. 95 Points, Wine Pilot
This is remarkably consistent wine is one I’ve been cellaring for many vintages. Given the challenging, warm 2024 vintage, winemaker Rob Diletti has woven his magic again producing a shiny-bright, zesty-fresh, thirst quenching riesling with all the estate’s hallmarks. There’s an attractive floral and citrus aromatic lift and mineral, slatey textures. With a few minutes opening in a glass, lemon balm, lilies, grapefruit and stem ginger flavours emerge. The term “minerally” springs to mind. Licking rocks, sucking on pebbles — choose your own phrase or simply revel in this citrusy, minerally delight. 95 Points, The Weekend West, Paul Edwards
