Jasper Hill Lo Stesso Fiano 2025

$32.00

From estate grown and purchased fruit, Jasper Hill’s Lo Stesso fiano is one of the country’s best. White flowers, pawpaw, creamy and spicey aromatics. Displays all the versatility of fiano, with a lovely pumice-like texture, juicy white and yellow peach, rhubarb, fig, quince and cardamon. Beautifully balanced, a harmonised seam of acidity freshens, brightens and energises. Very long in the mouth. If this was another white varietal like chardonnay, it would be double the price. A fantastic bargain.

Seriously swoon-worthy; Lo Stesso Fiano just keeps getting better and better with each release. The McNallys have worked with the grape for years and experience shows through in a complexity of flavours, textures and the kind of gentle savouriness that adds that extra layer of interest. Explores a world of intense citrus, of lemon balm, grapefruit pith and skin, lemon pastille and orange blossom aromatics, with pear, apple, quince and almond. So smooth; it roams fresh and long, aided by a subtle phenolic grip and tangy acid drive. So good on every level. 96 points – Jeni Port, Halliday Wine Companion

Producer Profile

Established by Ron and Elva Laughton in 1975, Jasper Hill has become one of Heathcote’s – and Australia’s – most revered wine estates. The vineyards sit on undulating hillsides at 330 metres, planted to a narrow strip of ancient Cambrian soils: deep, red, gravelly loams that are naturally low in fertility, exceptionally well drained and perfectly suited to producing low-vigour, intensely flavoured vines.

Everything happens on the estate. The fruit is grown, the wines are made and the bottles are filled at Jasper Hill, under an organic and biodynamic philosophy that has been fundamental to the estate since its beginnings. No synthetic chemicals have ever been used, while composting, inter-row mulching and a focus on soil health encourage remarkable biodiversity and natural fertility. The vines remain on their own roots, and Poussard pruning is now employed to promote vine health and optimal sap flow.

The site does much of the heavy lifting. Warm days and cool nights at elevation preserve natural acidity. The result is a distinctive style: powerful and deeply flavoured, yet fresh, balanced and remarkably pure.

These are wines with both pedigree and personality – unapologetically full-bodied, but never clumsy or overdone. Jasper Hill remains a benchmark for Heathcote and a compelling reminder of just how extraordinary Australian wine can be when great vines, great soils and decades of conviction come together.
