The perfect introduction to three of the best value and exceptional Yarra Chardonnays!
Three Pack contains 1 bottle each of the following:
The Wanderer Macclesfield Chardonnay 2024
From a cool site at around 250m. Barrel fermented and matured in older oak. A light, bright green gold. An elegant expression with its bouquet of subtle stone fruits, pink grapefruit and acacia. This follows onto the gently textured, very even palate. It’s tightly wound and will continue to unfurl over the next four to six years, if not longer. 95+ points – Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion
Citrus order delivered. All kinds of citrus, the cool citrus of lemon and limes, grapefruit, mandarin, fresh and preserved. Citrus blossom and some tangy stone fruits too, with a dusting of cashew, smoke, spring honey and alpine herbs. Pure and quivering, supremely intense, all muscle and tension. There’s just that delightful mid-palate softening texture, cream and pulpy fruit. Mineral and long, there is something relentless about the Wanderer Chardonnay, pulsating and making its presence felt long after a draw. I really hope you can keep your hands off it for 5-7 years and then some. Norris at Waters Wine Co
A Rodda Willowlake Chardonnay 2024
The nose beckons with aromas of spiced white nectarine, alpine spice, baked fennel and nori. The tense palate is nervy and reticent in its youth, but you can feel the wine is going to be ready to change to a higher gear in a few months. Saline notes on the finish temper the spices and crunchy white nectarine. It’s an exciting wine that needs time. 95 points – Gabrielle Poy – The Real Review
Offers Yarra Valley elegance with an impressive complexity of fruit married to some stylish toasty oak. Immediately engaging, and there’s a strong temptation to open a bottle sooner rather than later. Nectarine, peach, grapefruit, lemon butter, nougat, shortbread, buttered toast, spice, some hazelnut, too, are beautifully worked together. This is svelte, sophisticated, with warm texture and fresh acidity. Yes, the structure allows for more ageing. Can you wait? 95 points – Jeni Port, Halliday Wine Companion
Mendoza clone, whole-bunch pressed, natural-yeast fermented and matured in two seasoned 600L French oak barrels and two 500L barrels (one new). Bright green gold. There’s a lot going on here from the very first whiff. Aromas of ripe stone fruits, orange blossom, oyster shell and praline lead onto an intense, structured and beautifully balanced palate. No problems drinking this now, but it’s worth noting that this will age very well, too. 97 points – Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion
