A great vintage for this wine and for Tasmanian chardonnay. Eye wateringly intense, with aromas of grapefruit, gardenia, mandarin, lime preserve and lemon thyme. Rich, full bodied and round, underpinned by a scaffold of apple and lemon driven acidity. Brioche, apple strudel, acacia honey and cream fill out the fleshy, pulpy mid palate, before finishing with thirst quenching minerals. Awesome expression. Waters Wine Co
Chardonnay sourced from the Pooley Butchers Hill vineyard in Richmond, Coal River Valley, 35% new French oak. Pure peach, nectarine and citrus fruits with hints of grilled nuts, crème fraîche, soft dreamy spices, vanilla bean, spiced oatmeal, crushed riverstone, struck flint and clover blossom. Very composed and harmonious with a crystalline clarity and assured flow on the palate, gracefully fading off with a stony, umami-rich presence on the finish. 96 Points – Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
The Butchers Hill Vineyard located in Richmond at the historic Belmont Lodge was established in 2003. The vineyard is a prominent feature to the Richmond landscape as it protrudes from the borders of the town. The steep north facing slope of this site starting from 30m-100m above sea level means that it receives some very long sunlight hours, protection from cold southern winds and increased drainage of soils. The ferricrete attribute of the soils not only hold heat and water longer as they are darker but the iron oxide also interacts with the production of flavonoids in the fruit and typically produces wines that are complex and robust. There are currently 6ha of vine planted on this property in total.
Fruit was handpicked. Whole bunch pressed to tank. Then racked to barrel for fermentation. CHD yeast was used. Matured for 10 months in French oak barriques (228 litres) of which 35% was new. The cooperage was Sirugue. This wine saw 35% MLF completed. Pooley Wines

Diam. Not all Petit Chablis is created equal! Moreau’s Petit Chablis comes from a single 2.5-hectare site between Courgis and Beine, just outside Chablis on the route to Auxerre. It has a southwest orientation and lies on Kimmeridgian soils (as opposed to the higher Portlandian soils on which most Petit is grown). Half of the plot […]

From the Full Moon vineyard in Gladysdale, which, sadly (and in a sign of the times), has been pulled out by the owner. Salo has another vineyard lined up for ’26. In the meantime, this is an excellent way to go out. Brightly coloured with aromas of nectarine kernel, citrus peel, flint and light marine […]

‘The Bourgogne vineyards are in Meursault Puligny, Chassagne and St-Aubin. Glowing pale lemon. Crisply attractive, not very reductive, no great weight on the palate, tingling acidity, a little citrus rinse, fair length. Drink from 2026-2028.’ (86-87) Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy, October 2025. From vines located in Meursault (40%), Puligny (15%), Chassagne (15%) and […]

From 0.146 ha of vines planted in 1986 which were purchased by Jean-Louis. “Has a lifted mineral nose with subtle scents of honeysuckle and almond, certainly endowed with the vigour one expects from this vineyard. The palate is fine, harmonious and svelte on the entry. This is a Perrieres demonstrating typical fine mineral nuance, though […]
