“Another wine that has only partially completed its malolactic fermentation is the 2022 Meursault Le Limozin, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and fleshy wine that’s broader and more voluminous than the taut Chevalières. Offering up reductive aromas of pear, hazelnuts and iodine, it concludes with a long, mouthwatering finish.” 91-93 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
Limozin is another beautifully positioned lieu-dit, tucked under the Premiers Crus and bordering Les Charmes, Les Genevrières and Les Poruzots. It’s a clay-rich terroir that typically produces a particularly intense, mineral, long-lived Meursault, one of the finest examples of village Meursault we know. The ancient vines, planted in 1937, bring extra concentration and power to the terroir. As always, the wine is denser than the Chevalières in 2022, but it is also incredibly racy and mineral.
