Intense aromatics of grapefruit, fresh and preserved lime, lemon, cashew, cream, wood, citrus blossom and spice. Rich and medium bodied, a wine of energy angles and cut. There’s a little more mid palate flesh than in previous iterations, and I’m not sure if it marks a shift in style or is a reflection of the vintage. One thing’s for sure though, this is the best chardonnay yet from Bondar.
Fruit sourced from a single vineyard in Echunga in the Adelaide Hills. Hand-picked and lightly pressed straight to barrel sans sulphur, the juice was allowed to ferment naturally in French oak barrels (about 25% new) for ten months.

Family-owned and operated, Bondar crafts superb wines from their preferred sites across McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills. At the heart of the estate is the Rayner Vineyard, where vine plantings date back to the 1950s, predominantly Shiraz and Grenache.
These are, first and foremost, wines made for drinking – generous, inviting, and effortlessly enjoyable. But there’s real depth here too: fragrant, silky, and savoury, with a quiet complexity that keeps you coming back.
Bondar is that rare producer that nails it all – flavour, texture, and feel – in equal measure.
