Based on the 2014 vintage and disgorged in July 2020, the latest release of Egly’s NV Brut Rosé Grand Cru is showing beautifully, wafting from the glass with aromas of tangerine oil, crisp red berries, toasted almonds and white flowers—in other words, much as I described the 2013-base last year but with a touch more aromatic intensity. Full-bodied, vinous and enveloping, with superb depth at the core, racy acids and a pillowy mousse, it concludes with a long, penetrating finish. While it’s showing beautifully today, I’d love to revisit it with another year on cork. 94+ points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
Rumbling power with delicate finesse, this is a rose of medium salmon hue, bursting with the exuberance and beguiling transparency of Ambonnay pinot noir. Fragrant rosebuds and wild strawberries open into glorious depth of black cherry fruits of exacting ripeness, cherry kernel, fig and mixed spice. Very fresh and focussed for its age, with a universe of complexity lingering very long, precise and lively amidst fine chalk mineral texture. 96 points, Tyson Stelzer, The Champagne Guide
This is simply one of the greatest rosé wines of Champagne. The blend is 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay with 50% from the 2016 vintage and the vins de réserve split between 2015 and 2014. Then there is the five per cent of Egly’s Coteaux Champenois Rouge (the finest red wine of the AOC in our opinion—and not only ours!) that gives the wine its colour and a great deal of character as well. Dosage is a negligible two grams per litre. The fruit is from 100% Grand Cru vines, grown by one of the most meticulous vignerons in the region. This is why it’s so good. Interestingly this is always Egly’s most delicate wine. Whereas power is typically a key feature of any Egly wine, the Rosé is unbelievably fine, perfumed and red-fruited; something truly special.

The 2013 Brut Nature Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru Terre de Vertus unfurls with notes of lemon oil, oyster shell, pastry cream and crisp green apple that gains in definition and purity with time in the glass. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with a pinpoint mousse, lovely venosity, fine depth at […]Add to cart Producer: Larmandier Bernier
The name here refers to the ‘vertical’ nature of the geographic locations of the vineyards as well as the style of wine that results from the very chalky soils of these sites – a more linear, mineral style of wine. The vineyards are located in Cramant, Avize, Oger, and Vertus (north of the village), which […]Add to cart Producer: Larmandier Bernier
Named for the patron saint of Merfy, this comes from mature parcels of vines in both Merfy and Saint-Thierry. These diverse, sand- and limestone-rich terroirs contribute to the wine’s vibrancy and finesse. Each plot is vinified uniquely, and blended to create a balance where site expression is front and foremost. The wines (equal parts Pinot […]Add to cart Producer: Chartogne-Taillet
Laherte Freres makes interesting and compelling Champagnes, offering ridiculous value and gorgeously pure flavours. The Rose de Meunier NV fits nicely with this statement. It’s an ethereal, elegantly dancing Champagne of exquisite refinement. Strawberry, red apple, raspberry and savoury spices. The palate is so pure, no doubt due to the estate’s biodynamic practices. Very elegant, […]Add to cart Producer: Laherte Freres
