A very serious rose, without sacrificing the fun or refreshment factor. It has a lovely luminous colour of copper, and the aromatics are high toned red fruits, Middle Eastern spice, mixed herbs, cream and marzipan. All enveloping, really coating all corners of the mouth. Lithe and fleshy, its curve cut by acidity and faint cashmere tannin. Beautiful. Waters Wine Co
Inspired by the great, age-worthy and serious rosé wines of the south of France (Clos Cibonne, Chateau Simon and Tempier), our interpretation is barrel fermented in large old French oak, then lees aged for 11 months, creating a wine of depth, complexity and character. A blend of Merlot, Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. Orangey salmon in colour, it offers exuberant aromatics of raspberry, cranberry, green almond and peppery spice and a subtle stoney complexity. The palate is crisp, yet concentrated, full of bright, spicy red berry fruit, creamy, lees derived complexity and feathery tannins adding complexity and savouriness. A wonderful food wine, and one that will also gain in complexity in the medium term. Josh Cooper

Josh Cooper is the son of Nelly and Allan Cooper of Cobaw Ridge winery in the Macedon Ranges, a producer of incomparable regard. Interestingly, Josh sources his fruit from outside the family farm, but growing up in the Macedon Ranges he has an intimate knowledge of the region, its vineyards and growers. We have not yet come across a finer suite of negociant wines in Australia.
Bright, pure, translucent, textural, delicate and poised, with a long and lingering carry. Layered complexity, flavours and textures interwoven, seamlessly stitched, the balance is perfect, no flavour or texture dominating, an equality of components.
Beautiful flavours are one thing, but what elevates Josh Cooper’s wines into grandness is their texture, shape and tannin. Billowing, eddying – their shape all movement, pirouetting, rippling, and caressing. No wine feels as another, but they all share a gentle palate presence, a pelt of velvet, silk or longer woodier tannins.
