Fighting Gully Road Rose 2024
$30.00
Mark Walpole of Fighting Gully Road has an international reputation as a viticulturist, particularly in regard to Italian varietals. Yet the quality of his wines isn’t entirely due to the magnificent quality of his vineyards, but also his excellence as a winemaker. Every single wine from this producer should be sought out, bought and drunk as soon as possible, The 2024 rose shouldn’t be exciting, but it is, and it’s wonderful and delicious. It’s very serious, not at all frivolous, with creamy red fruits, apricots, savoury spice and rose petals. Gripping palate, with fine tannins and a wave of sweet and tangy red fruits, salt and oyster shell. Drinking now to be sure, but a worthy contender for your cellar too. Wonderful stuff. Waters Wine Co
What a trio – Beechworth sangiovese and cabernet and Alpine Valleys aglianico – and the meeting is a seductive, wild red fruit fest for the senses. Dusty, earthy, morello cherries, cracked pepper and almond fragrance. Savoury, floral redcurrant, cherry and almond meal notes guide the palate, showing plenty of crunch and energy along the way. Finishes texturally dry. 93 points – Jeni Port, Halliday Wine Companion
Made from Sangiovese and Cabernet grapes from Beechworth; and Aglianico grapes from our Alpine Valleys vineyard. The fruit was destemmed and crushed, then pressed. Settled juice was transferred to puncheon where fermentation took place using indigenous yeasts. This wine is made in our traditional style – crisp and fresh. Lifted red and dark cherry fruits on the nose. perfect for summer drinking. Producer’s notes
