Beautiful wine, and certainly Australia’s benchmark tempranillo. Complex aromatics of cola, liquor cherry, cassis, blueberry, sweet spice, pink peppercorns and compost. Initially, the attack is pure and translucent, before the impact of minerality firms, squeezes and reshape. Some earthy/dusty/ferrous notes, threaded with sweet fruit is irresistible. Wow! What a comeback! After losing her entire 2020 vintage to smoke taint, Eleana Anderson is back, big time. Tempranillo, always a Mayford highlight, shines in the fabulous ’21 vintage. Great vibrancy of colour in deep purple hues. Offers up a striking perfume of well-defined dark cherries, plum, earth, dried rosemary, dusty cocoa, red licorice.
