Syrah grown on decomposed granite, which lowers the wines overall pH, heightens freshness and accentuates perfume. Incredible Syrah here, with a taste not dissimilar to Eden valley Shiraz, but with a coolness and silken drive tensioned with such an incredible abundance of flavour. Baking spices, blueberry, violet, bitumen, dark cherry, cranberry and sweet raspberry. Pure and translucent palate, soft and evenly flowing, the tannins long, fine, balanced and interwoven. Concentrated, poised and immensely powerful, but so graceful, enticing and effortless. One of our favourite wines of 2023. Waters Wine Co
The 2021 Swanesang includes 85% stem addition, higher than the 2019, with 11 months on the lees. It was the first vintage where Bredell had to do some suckering. I had to wait two or three minutes because of the reduction, but wow, it is worth the wait. It unfurls with exquisite red fruit, a hint of blueberry, pressed violet and light garrigues scent. There is something sensual about the aromatics here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, pure black and red fruit, an insistent grip with a complex white pepper and thyme infused finish. You will find it difficult to find a more soulful and importantly delicious Syrah from the Cape. 97 Points, Neal Martin MW (Vinous)

Almost black with a dark purple hue, yet the wine is bright, rich and seductive. 5% whole bunch here, adding a vibrant lift from the glass. The nose is all black pastel, charcoal, spice and red fruit compote. The palate has a wonderful electricity about it, with beautiful acids and a smooth finish. It’s full […]
Add to cart Producer: Wild Duck CreekThe power of blends is clearly evident and this was for me my favorite wine in the Tim Smith line up. The different grapes have complemented each other beautifully. Rich, juicy, hedonistic, fragrant and savory, the Mataro adding smoke, compost and firm, grippy tannins. Controlled power, the shiraz still comes through strongly, a mass of […]
Add to cart Producer: Tim SmithTerrific rendition of Greenock Creek’s rich and opulent flavours. Full bodied, with black fruits, some sweet raspberry, sumac, cinnamon and wood spice. Round in shape, it’s not heavy and is surprisingly light on it’s feet. Despite all the apparent presence and flavour, there’s a youthful brightness, conveyed by the fine, soft tannins. Lovely focus and […]
Add to cart Producer: Laughing JackSourced from 22-year-old vines on the lower end of the east-north-east slope, the Crudo bottling channels all the vivid, savoury Rhône-like appeal Luke searches for while delivering plenty of delicious, drink-me-now appeal. This year, just 10% bunches were included in the ferment to avoid overcrowding the spicy blueberry flavours and fine, granite-derived tannins, and the […]
