Funnily enough, when I tried this, I thought there was a dash of viognier, as it reminded me of Cote Rotie. Super fragrant with cured meats, fresh compost, smoke, Middle Eastern spices, black and red fruits and violets. Full bodied, succulent, masses of fruit and rich, oozing tannins. Very different from the estate shiraz and delightfully so. Waters Wine Co
Shiraz without a dash of viognier, which might explain why it oscillates between ripe dark fruit and savoury tones, including baking spices and cedary oak … a little smoky and meaty, too. The palate is shapely with tannins and lots of them, yet finishes long and satisfying. Pat Carmody says what viognier does to shiraz is something else, but personally shiraz on its own is just as fabulous. 95 Points, Halliday Wine Companion
