“The 2022 Bourgogne Cuvée de Noble Souche is pretty and giving, bursting with aromas of plums, raspberry liqueur and rose petals. Medium-bodied, supple and succulent, it will drink well on release.” 88-89 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
“Fresh deep purple, with its usual very exciting lifted bouquet. A full succulent raspberry and fresh plum fruit, adequate acidity, refined tannins, and super length.” 88-90 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
As always, the fruit for this wine comes from the plateau at Daix, near Marsannay. The vines sit at 400 metres, bringing significant freshness and purity. Meanwhile, the very low yields contribute remarkable depth and ageworthiness. Even at this level, over 50% bunches were included, and only 10% new oak. This has always been a brilliant Bourgogne, and the 2022 is absolutely true to form! It is truly superb for the level.

Beautiful pinot noir from Castle Rock, tasted alongside several older vintages, affirming their great aging potential. A difficult hot year 2023, it’s had to believe that such as pure, supple and translucent wine could be forged from such difficulty. Medium bodied, with the black and hedge fruits mashed with licorice, mace, fennel, pink peppercorns and […]
Add to cartOne of the most stunningly aromatic pinots we’ve tried in a very long time. Drawing you in with star anise, sweet cherry, blackberry, cola, lavender wood, aniseed, sweet raspberry and cassis. Round and open, the aromatics quiet different to what’s found on the palate. Cured meats, mushroom, fresh compost, smoke and baking spices. Savoury tertiary […]
Add to cart Producer: BannockburnStar anise, sweet English summer fruits, Bresaola, lavender and damp leaf. Sweet and tangy fruits, picked at the perfect moment, serpentine, supple, brooding and haunting. Every sniff and sip reveals something different. Serrano, blood orange, chocolate, Middle Eastern spice and long silky tannins that tighten along the finish. Exquisite balance, the wine in constant motion. […]
Add to cart Producer: BannockburnAs I write this, I’ve just returned from judging at the 2025 Tasmanian Wine Show, where this particular wine put in a stellar showing at the pointy end of the trophy judging. Gee it’s lovely. There’s not a hair out of place. Beautifully pure red berry and raspberry fruits with great carry of aroma and […]
